Pekka Koponen, founder and Managing Director of Spinverse, has strong international experience in emerging technologies and markets. He currently consults several leading technology enterprises in mobile software and nanotechnology sectors.
Pekka has worked 14 years with Nokia, of which over six years in expatriate assignments in Europe and Asia. His experience covers several company functions including R&D, marketing, sales and creating new ventures. Pekka's latest positions were Partner in Nokia Early Stage Technology Fund and before that Director of Strategy&Business Development of Nokia's Mobile Software-unit.
Pekka has a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Oulu, Finland and an MBA from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland. He has a family of three kids. Pekka's hobbies include snowboarding, marathons and boating.
Anneli is a Senior Consultant at Spinverse, and has broad industrial experience in technology and business development of emerging technologies. Anneli is the coordinator of Tekes’ Fuel Cell Technology Programme and Tekes’ Functional Materials Technology Programme, and chairs the thematic group “Materials & Processes” in Tekes’ FinNano Technology Program.
Anneli is specialised in polymer technology, functional materials, and in innovative product concepts which integrate mechanics and electronics. Her current focus areas are nano materials and fuel cells.
Anneli has previously worked for Perlos Corporation as Director, New Concept Development & IPR. Her long career in industry covers various positions in R&D, telecommunications, healthcare, business management and corporate business development. Anneli’s has a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and MBA, both from Helsinki University of Technology. Her hobbies include orienteering and running.
Maria Sipilä is a Senior Consultant at Spinverse, and has strong international marketing experience in the area of product management and new technologies. She is responsible for strategic conference and event development for leading technology focused enterprises in various industry sectors such as forest, nanotechnology, energy, metal and telecommunications. Maria is also leading corporate communications of Spinverse.
Maria has worked 8 years with Nokia in various global marketing and product marketing roles including new mobile phone launches worldwide, competitor intelligence operation mode development and market research for Nokia mobile phones. Maria has also worked as Chief Strategist in the area of management consulting.
Maria has a M.Sc. (Econ.) degree from Helsinki School of Economics, Finland. She has a family of two kids. In her free time Maria enjoys tennis, fitness, family life and culture.
Matti is a Senior Consultant at Spinverse, he is responsible for technology transfer and commercialisation consultancy services for companies and research organisations.
Before joining Spinverse team, Matti worked eight years in the field of international technology transfer. During that time he gained deep understanding in creating business from emerging technologies and IPR through licensing and start-up activities. In addition, Matti has obtained hands-on experience in scientific R&D during his early career at VTT.
Matti has a M.Sc. degree from Helsinki University of Technology. In his spare time, he enjoys classic outdoor sports, activities with dogs and family life.
Jouko is a Senior Consultant at Spinverse. His core competences encompass commercialization of technology and service intensive businesses. He has worked in versatile mobile business development and management tasks with the most notable mobile device manufacturers and operators. Jouko is responsible for Tekes VAMOS programme and the development of the ICT business area.
Jouko holds an M.Sc. degree from the Tampere University of Technology. He is married with three boys and in his spare time likes to play golf and ice hockey. He's a former Finnish Ice Hockey League champion and he still plays as a goalie in national veteran team.
Laura J. is working as a consultant, specializing on nanotechnology related companies in the areas of strategy and partnering with industry players and research institutions. Laura has D.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, where she has previously worked as a researcher in the field of Computational Materials Science at the Laboratory of Computational Engineering. In her spare time, Laura enjoys playing tennis and other sports.
Tom is a consultant at Spinverse. He has an M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Helsinki University of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Birmingham, England. He's responsible for the EU-projects and international networks of the company. Tom is also the event coordinator of Europe's largest annual nanotechnology conference, Nanotech Northern Europe 2008. Tom has previously worked on strategy development for a globally-renowned Finnish engineering firm, and as a project manager for a leading UK university. His hobbies include debating, running, and squash.
Laura K. is working as a consultant at Spinverse, coordinating the Tekes Functional Materials and Fuel Cell Programmes. She has a D.Sc. (Tech) degree on Cognitive Technology from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science and M.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology. For her Doctoral Thesis she developed a machine for controlling computers by thought. Laura has also business experience from her work at a leading international asset management firm. In her spare time, she enjoys golf, yoga, and reading fairy tales with her son.
Katriina is working as a marketing coordinator for Spinverse. She has a M.Econ.Sc. degree in European Economic and Public Affairs from University College Dublin, Ireland and a Bachelor's degree in International Marketing and Management from Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the Netherlands. Katriina has previously worked for an international service company subcontracting procurement services, and in the industry and innovation office of DIT research institute. In her spare time Katriina enjoys Pilates, yoga and various outdoor activities.

Josi is the ICT Manager of Spinverse. His responsibilities include the development of the internal and external information systems of the company, as well as supporting the development of the ICT business area. He has an M.Sc. degree in Digital Communication Technology and Knowledge Management at Lappeenranta University of Technology. He has experience of information systems and the relationship between industry and major European research centers from his work in CERN. He then continued this work through his own business before joining the Spinverse team. In his spare time he is often found bicycling, jogging or roller skating.
Juan Li is working as an analyst at Spinverse. She has an M.Sc. degree in Communications Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Information Systems from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
Juan has previously worked on telecommunications software R&D at Nokia and ICT solutions for a railway traffic project at a leading European logistics consultant company, as well as working as a communication manager for subcontracting consultant service in an international ecological project of VTT, the State Research Center of Finland. In her spare time, Juan enjoys badminton, swimming, yoga and fashion.
Maria is an analyst at Spinverse. She is in the M.Sc phase of her studies in Industrial Engineering and Management at Lappeenranta University of Technology. She also holds Bachelor's degrees from South Carelia Polytechnic and St.-Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia.
Maria has previously worked as a marketing assistant for a Finnish industrial firm, besides which she has experience in human resources management and organizational strategy. She is passionate about knowledge management and personal development. Her hobbies include martial arts, running and other sports.
Juho-Kusti is working as an analyst at Spinverse. He has an M.Sc degree in Business Technology and Finance from Helsinki School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Helsinki School of Economics and Yonsei University, South Korea. In addition, he is about to complete his M.Sc degree in Social Sciences(Econ.) at the University of Helsinki.
While studying towards double master’s, Juho-Kusti has worked on financial services at a leading European financial conglomerate, business project coordinator, and as an independent entrepreneur, and moreover, gained valuable experience in politics. His spare time is filled with entrepreneurship, tennis, trekking, and guerrilla skiing.
