About the project


The challenge is to efficiently capture and convert biogenic CO2 emissions into monomers, and subsequently polymerise them to produce poly-lactic-co-glycolic-acid (PLGA), a fully biodegradable polymer with desirable properties for packaging. The HICCUPS project offers an innovative approach to mitigating biogenic CO2 emissions by transforming them into bio-based plastics, which serve as sustainable alternatives to traditional fossil-based polyethylene used in packaging.


Impact of the project:

Demonstrates a cost-efficient and appealing new method for capturing and converting biogenic CO2 into recyclable and biodegradable PLGA plastics for packaging products.
