Implementation - 3.3 Consortium as a whole

Instructions

The individual partners are described in Chapter 4, so there is no need to repeat that information here. Instead you should focus on describing how the consortium is best equipped to address the project challenges.

Answer the following questions:

  • How will consortium match the project’s objectives, and bring together the necessary expertise?
  • In what  way  does  each  partner  contribute  to  the  project? Show that they have a valid role in the project.
  • How do the members complement one another?
  • Does the consortium cover the value chain? Are there gaps? How are they handled?

Especially in Innovation Actions should describe  the  industrial/commercial  involvement  in  the  project  to  ensure exploitation  of  the  results  and  explain  why  this  is  consistent  with  and  will  help  to achieve the specific measures which are proposed for  exploitation of the results of the project (see section 2.2).

You can include a picture of the value chain, the geographic spread, the size, the type, etc. of different partners in the consortium.

Example

The WIDGET consortium consists of the entire industry value chain from technology development side. The R&D activities are defined by mapping the needs of the industry use cases present in the consortium. The development activities will come together in the industry demonstrator cases serving the direct business needs of the end users. Research and academic functions are covered by UNIVERSITY A and RESEARCH ORGANISATION B, while technology is developed and commercialised by COMPANY A, COMPANY B and COMPANY C. Technology is utilized by PILOT PARTNER A and PILOT PARTNER B. The consortium partners are also active in the industry organizations, standardization bodies and industry specific networks and industry cooperation groups.

The project is organized around the integration Work Package, where the needs of the end users meet R&D and technology. Here the different hardware and software solutions are brought together. COMPANY A’s hardware and COMPANY B’s software are brought together to answer the challenges of pilot clients.

  • COMPANY A has a strong research and innovation activity with several of its existing products grew out of research activities. COMPANY A clients comprise of key manufacturing industry players, including PILOT PARTNER A, who already utilise COMPANY A’s sensor technology in manufacturing line.
  • COMPANY B specializes in the development of reliable and secure IoT software. They are a young and innovative SME company who offer a disrupting approach to IoT web management. They also offer a solution to monitor the presence and flow of resources, goods and people ion the factory floor.
  • Etc…
