Financial Consultant

Espoo, Finland

We are looking for a Financial Consultant to join our Bioeconomy and Circular Economy team in Finland (Espoo).

In this role, you will apply your financial expertise to support the development and financing of innovative and sustainable industrial projects. You will work with companies developing new technologies, production facilities and business opportunities in areas such as bioeconomy, circular economy and other sustainable industries. Your work will combine financial analysis, business and project planning, innovation financing and strategic advisory.

As part of our multidisciplinary consulting team, you will help clients navigate complex financial landscapes, build robust business cases and growth strategies and secure funding for projects that contribute to Europe's green transition and industrial competitiveness.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop financial models and business cases for innovative projects, ranging from emerging technologies to industrial investments and scale-up.
  • Advise clients on funding and financing options, including public funding instruments, loans and other financing solutions.
  • Contribute to funding proposals and consulting assignments requiring financial, business or impact-related analyses.
  • Support clients in preparing business plans and commercialisation strategies.
  • Support clients in developing project budgets and financial plans for innovation or investment projects.
  • Work closely with technical, commercial and sustainability experts to evaluate project viability and business potential.
  • Identify new opportunities for financial advisory services and contribute to business development.

 Required experience and skills

  • A strong background in financial consulting, corporate finance, project finance or innovation funding.
  • Relevant academic background (M.Sc., MBA or equivalent) with a minimum of 5+ years of work experience.
  • Hands-on experience in financial modelling and business case development.
  • Understanding of innovation projects, technology commercialisation and industrial investments within sustainable industries.
  • Experience in bio-based or circular industries is considered a strong asset. Experience from adjacent industries such as renewable energy, manufacturing or process industries is also relevant.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in English and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to different audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and clients.
  • Experience with public funding instruments such as Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe and Business Finland is considered an asset.
