SPINBASE: VTT finds it an excellent tool to identify suitable funding

Isabel Pinto Seppä has worked on the challenging task to identify the suitable calls for VTT. She shares her experiences with Spinbase tool which she has found very helpful in fulfilling her tasks.
Isabel Pinto Seppä worked as EC Programmes Manager at VTT until January 2020, and her work involved hands-on EU call searching to identify funding instruments for VTT research projects. One of the most helpful tools she used in her work was Spinbase, which is a tool developed by Spinverse to search for EU funding and partners in an easier way. Currently Isabel works as EC Affairs Manager at VTT International Affairs.
Challenges
The task of spotting the relevant calls and topics in the European Commission's public information resources regarding all EU-funded research projects can occasionally be somewhat daunting. A good understanding of the jargon used in the calls and expertise on the topic at hand is a must. What is more, the official portals do not seem to be so efficient when searching for multi-disciplinary calls and the performance and usability of the EC portals has some room for improvement in many cases.

About the project
The LIFE Lit4Nature aims to establish a stronger, evidence-based system for biodiversity conservation and restoration across Lithuania. Major focus will be placed on strengthening the national biodiversity monitoring system, improving data collection and integration and on introducing innovative monitoring approaches to support evidence-based conservation and restoration decisions.
Impact of the project:
The project aims to boost stronger biodiversity and ecosystem recovery across Lithuania through nationwide conservation and restoration. Further, it wants to achieve better national coordination for efficient and well targeted conservation measures and their funding.
