The European Commission recently announced 77 new European net-zero technology projects to receive funding support for their groundbreaking initiatives. The total investment of the Innovation Fund call, launched in December 2025, is €3.4 billion. We were delighted to learn that several significant projects that Spinverse experts supported this year were among the project proposals selected to proceed to Grant Agreement Preparation negotiations.
From funding decisions to climate impact: what happens next
In this Innovation Fund 2026 investment round, the key sectors covered in this call are related to energy-intensive industries, renewable energy, energy storage, clean-tech manufacturing, net-zero mobility, advanced alternative fuels, critical raw materials processing and recycling, industrial carbon management and, for the first time, small modular nuclear reactors.
According to European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), these 77 projects have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 290 million tonnes over their first decade of operations.
Following the announcement of awarded projects on the 19th October 2026, the projects have been invited to begin grant agreement preparations with CINEA. The results of this process will be announced in the first quarter of 2027, after which the projects can truly begin. We are looking forward to the next steps for our customers’ projects and are very proud to have been part of supporting these innovative solutions.

Spinverse expertise turns ambitious
ideas into funded climate action
This year’s results continue to show that our experts are doing impactful work for a more sustainable European industry together with our innovative customers. In total, the funding into successful project proposals we supported is almost €257 million, a remarkable sum overall.
The total estimated greenhouse gas emission avoidance in these newly awarded projects is close to 45 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the span of 10 years. To put this into perspective, the projects we have supported this year have the potential to mitigate more emissions than Finland caused during 2025 (3,6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent).
The awarded projects supported by Spinverse come from all over Europe. They focus on reducing emissions from energy and industrial production, developing lower-carbon construction materials, strengthening European clean-technology manufacturing, and improving the integration of renewable energy and hydrogen into the electricity system.
Spinverse CEO Fredrik Nyman is proud of the strong contribution of Spinverse experts. He says: “Congratulations to our customers on this outstanding achievement. We are proud to have supported their journey and look forward to helping them take the next steps through GAP negotiations. To date, we have helped secure €1.58 billion in Innovation Fund funding, including cases that have reached financial close. This demonstrates the strength of long-term collaboration, strategic project development and Spinverse’s expertise in delivering successful funding outcomes."
The
Commission is preparing to launch the next round of Innovation Fund calls in
early December 2026. This will include a €1 billion clean tech manufacturing
topic to support the derisking of supply chains in line with The RESourceEU
Action Plan. Stay tuned for more news later.
