Scaleup Europe Fund: a new growth capital opportunity for European tech scaleups

The new Scaleup Europe Fund takes step in Europe’s efforts to help its most promising technology companies scale in Europe, with European capital. The fund is designed for late-stage growth companies seeking substantial investment rounds and aims to close the funding gap that has too often pushed European scaleups to look outside the continent for capital. With the official launch taking place on 3 June 2026 and the funding route opening soon, now is an excellent time for ambitious companies to start preparing - Spinverse experts are here to help.

What is the Scaleup Europe Fund?

The Scaleup Europe Fund is a new multi-billion-euro late-stage and growth fund created to support European tech scaleups from Series B onwards. It is set up as a separate compartment under the European Innovation Council (EIC), but it will be privately managed on a market basis by EQT, one of Europe’s largest private markets investors.

The target fund size is €5 billion, with €1 billion coming from Horizon Europe and additional capital being raised from private investors. The fund is expected to make investments of around €100 million per company, helping to catalyse much larger funding rounds.

The fund is launching on 3 June 2026.

Who is the fund for?

The fund is aimed at high-potential scaleups in strategic technology areas across the EU and Horizon Europe associated countries. These include:

  • Digital and intelligent systems such as AI, quantum and semiconductors
  • Physical and industrial systems such as clean energy, advanced manufacturing, space and mobility
  • Life and health sciences including biotech, medtech and agritech.

Dual-use technologies are also within scope. In practice, this means the fund is highly relevant for ambitious companies with strong growth potential, a compelling scaleup story and a need for significant late-stage investment.
